Digital POS–Cash Register Connection: What Changes in 2026

Starting January 1st, 2026, under the 2025 Budget Law and the Italian Revenue Agency’s Provision of October 31st, 2025, all merchants who issue electronic receipts and accept electronic payments will be required to establish a “logical” connection between their POS terminals and cash registers through an online procedure on the “Fatture e Corrispettivi” portal.

A logical connection does not refer to a physical cable or technical integration between the POS and the fiscal register. Instead, it is a simple administrative pairing on the Revenue Agency’s portal between:

  • the payment system identifier (TID or contract number, including SoftPOS, app/QR-based payments, and e-commerce)

  • the identifier of the fiscal register or software/cloud fiscal solution.

PayGlobe POS terminals are already compliant

PayGlobe terminals are fully compatible with the new regulation. This means:

  • No additional physical connections

  • No POS replacement

  • No extra costs

  • A fully digital process

Merchants who do not use a fiscal register/RT device will not need to take any action.

What you will need to do

As soon as the Italian Revenue Agency makes the procedure available:

  1. Access the “Fatture e Corrispettivi” section

  2. Select your POS terminals, which will already appear in the list

  3. Link each POS to the corresponding cash register and provide the store address

PayGlobe will notify you as soon as the procedure is published and will guide you step by step to ensure a smooth and interruption-free compliance process.
